The Lady Tigers secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the first inning. Doubles by Harrell and Paige Paulson, led the offense for Terrell.
Harrell pitched the game for the Lady Tigers. She went three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out seven and walking one.
“It’s a good feeling,” said Harrell. “It’s fun being out there with your team and having a game like that.”
Terrell tallied 12 hits during the game. Harrell, Paulson, and Adia Yeager, each racked up multiple hits. Paulson went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Terrell Lady Tigers in hits. The Lady Tigers tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases.
"The Lady Tigers are beginning to understand how to play together as a team,” said softball coach, Glenn Banker. “I am proud of our squad; they are representing Terrell and Terrell High School with class and dedication."
The win improves the Lady Tigers’ record to 3-2 in district positioning them in third place. The Lady Tigers look to improve their standing on Tuesday when they host Mesquite Poteet High School. Pending a Lady Tigers win, the team will clinch a playoff berth. “It will be awesome if we get into the playoffs, especially for our seniors,” said Harrell. “It would be a great ending to their high school softball career.”
The game against Mesquite Poteet will be an away game at Poteet High School with the JV playing at 5:30 P.M. followed by Varsity at 7:00 P.M. Good luck to the Lady Tigers.
