“I am very excited about the expertise that Mrs. Nichols brings to the W.H. Burnett team,” said Micheal French, Terrell ISD Superintendent. “I have full confidence that she will continue to build upon her predecessor’s previous success and propel the campus to new heights.”
Nichols has served as a Texas educator for 18 years, 16 of which have been spent faithfully serving the students and families of Terrell ISD. She began her tenure at TISD in 2003 as a fourth-grade teacher at J.W. Long Elementary before stepping into her first role in administrative leadership in 2010 as Assistant Principal for J.F. Kennedy Elementary, now Gilbert Willie Sr. Elementary. She returned to J.W. Long Elementary in 2012 and has served as campus principal ever since.
“Terrell became my home in 2003 and the students instantly stole my heart,” shared Nichols.
Nichols notes that although she will miss seeing the faces of her J.W. Long students and staff each day, she is humbled by the opportunity to serve all of TISD’s K-5 campuses by forging the initial school experience for hundreds of three and four-year-old students and their families at W.H. Burnett.
“I will miss my J.W. Long family dearly,” said Nichols. “However, I am excited to serve alongside the W.H. Burnett staff as we work diligently to lay the academic foundations for our youngest TISD students.”
Nichols holds a Master of Educational Leadership from Texas A&M Commerce, and she hopes to return to school in the near future to earn her Doctorate in Curriculum.
Congratulations Mrs. Nichols on this exciting new opportunity!
