Participation in UIL has many benefits including increased GPA, SAT, and ACT scores. For Terrell High School senior Christian Baca, UIL has helped him overcome his fear of public speaking.
“I had severe stage fright, but debate has been a big help in improving my skills,” said Baca. “Each debate I am significantly improving. I am glad I was able to bring Terrell first place.”
Other students, like THS sophomore Jason Gomez, see it as an opportunity to grow in areas they are passionate about.
“I joined UIL Computer Science because I enjoy programming and this is good practice,” said Gomez. “When I go to college and pursue a similar field, I will already have experience and knowledge to carry with me.”
Congratulations to the Terrell High School UIL team!
