Abrams-Malone, who has been playing soccer since she was four years old, is a starting forward for the Lady Tigers. In former seasons, she has been recognized as an All-District Midfielder, the District MVP, and leading goal scorer. This season, she aims to break the Terrell High School record of most goals scored in a season set by Gennifer Hurst over a decade ago with 56 goals. With a current count of 48 goals this season, Abrams-Malone is only nine shy of her target.
“It would mean so much to me to break the high school record,” Abrams-Malone said. “Gennifer is someone I look up to so much. After soccer, she has gone on to have a successful career in the medical field and I want to be just like her.”
The Lady Tiger’s Head Coach, John Lantrip shared that even though Abrams-Malone is typically double-teamed on the field, she still finds ways to score.
“Analyse is a solid player with amazing skills and has the vision to see the whole field,” said Lantrip. “She is very hard to cover and she only needs a small window to get a shot off.”
Abrams-Malone was quick to credit her teammates for her tremendous success this season.
“We have really come together this season as a family,” Abrams-Malone shared. “I cannot take the credit for all of the goals I have scored this season, because it really is a team effort. They all work hard to get me the ball and put me in position to score.”
The Lady Tigers, who are number one in the state for goals scored, have a current record of 9-2, and are ranked 3rd in the region and 13th in the state. They take on Kaufman this Friday, February 3 at 7:15 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Good luck, Lady Tigers!
