With Region 3 being one of the strongest regions in Texas, students take their practice and preparation very seriously knowing they will compete against some of the strongest student musicians in the state. Students spend four to six weeks preparing their solos, practicing with a piano accompanist, and working alongside their directors, gleaning from their experience and expertise.
“The schools involved in this competition have exceptional band programs,” shared John Young, Terrell ISD’s Director of Bands and Fine Arts. “For our kids to learn to compete and represent TISD in such a positive light is excellent both for them and for our community.”
Young hopes that the successes of these students serve as motivation for the future generations of Tiger Band members.
“Our hope is that students who did not participate this year will see this as a worthy opportunity to push themselves, improve as a musician, and see the benefit of their hard work.” said Young.
Oh behalf of the entire Terrell community, congratulations to the Tiger Band and the dedicated student musicians on this outstanding accomplishment!
