The Texas Country Music Association announced the Top 5 Finalists in each of the 21 categories for the 2019 Texas Country Music Awards as a result of nominations that were made between April 1 and May 15, 2019.
“I am really excited to be chosen as a finalist,” said Norris. “I am in a category with other young artists that have been finalists on American Idol with thousands of social media followers, so it is truly an honor.”
Since the age of 10, Norris has been singing and playing his guitar for family and friends, but it was not until two years ago that he began singing publicly and working to make a name for himself within the country music industry.
“When I started singing publicly, I just wanted to make people happy,” said Norris. “There is nothing better than seeing someone's face light up when they recognize the song I'm singing and they lead their partner to the dance floor.”
Norris says his journey thus far in his career has been hard yet rewarding, especially since he is still in high school. However, he is grateful for the remarkable individuals who have helped him along his journey to stardom.
“Terrell ISD, the Terrell Community, and my parents have supported me every step of the way,” said Norris. “Dr. Juan Solis, Mr. John Young, and other TISD staff have attended my shows and given me great advice.”
The Texas Country Music Awards will be held on Sunday, September 22 at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, TX. The TCMA’s final round of voting for this year’s awards end on July 15, 2019.
