THS Students Earn more than 170 Industry Certifications

Terrell High School Career & Technical Education (CTE) students are on track to meet the needs of tomorrow’s workforce.  This year, students earned more than 170 industry certifications. Students earned in the areas of Computer Software, Automotive Service, Welding, Computer Aided Drafting, Healthcare, Pharmacy, and Industrial Safety. The number of students earning industry certifications has increased significantly over the past three years. In the 2013-2014 school year, students earned 10 industry certifications, and students earned 68 in the 2014-2015 school year.

Adobe Certified Associate (ACA
) – This certification prepares students for the world of multimedia. Students were trained and certified using Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro technology. Certifications were awarded to Monique Carey, Matthew Cech, Hagan Cousin, Antonio Iracheta, Seth Massheder, Timothy Matheny, Kevin Puebla, and Max Ramirez.

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) - Maintenance and Light Repair
– This certification prepares students for careers in automotive service. Students were trained and certified in performing routine maintenance on automotive vehicles as well as some light repairs that are typically necessary. Certifications were awarded to Leonardo Cardenas, David Perez, Brandon Stone, Oscar Velazquez. One student, Derian Montes, was also certified in Suspension and Steering.

SP/2 – All students taking the automotive pathway are expected to certify in SP/2 which is a national safety certification recognized by the automotive industry. Certifications were awarded to Leonardo Cardenas, David Cruz, Justin Schweers, Justice Timmons, Daylon Hickmon, Carlos Lacedelli, Derian Montes, David Perez, Brandon Stone, Oscar Velazquez, Juan Alvarez Mendoza, Curtis Bennett, Cory Carlile, Emilio Diaz, Andrew Dudley, Joshua Finger, Zachery Frazier, Joseph Gudino, Jukaylun Hambric, Chriss Landaverde, Martin De Jesus Lopez, William Miller, Trey Mingus, Gerardo Perez, Javier Tejada, Ramiro Velazquez, Keyontae Brownlow, Jhase Davis, Michael Dennis, Jesse Flowers, Adrian Gomez, Jorge Gonzalez Pineda, Courtney Griffin, Noah Guillen, Tyler Looper, Zackery Meador, Derian Montes, Lorenzo Perez Romero, Raymond Sanchez, Erick Saucedo, Gustavo Serrano, and Jarvis Walker.

American Welding Society (AWS) Limited 1G, - This certification is the first step towards preparing students for a career in industrial welding. Students who received certifications were Terrance Boyd, Francisco Castaneda, Colton Howland, Daniel Laredo, Sean Minshew, and Noah Reed.

Certified Solidworks Associate (CSWA) – This certification prepares students for careers in engineering and or manufacturing. Solidworks is 3D CAD software used by many businesses in these industries. Certifications were awarded to Phibun McDonald Khamwiset, Travis Need, and Haley Veech.

Sterile Products (IV) – This certification prepares students for a career in healthcare. Students were trained and certified on sterile product preparation and aseptic technique. Certifications were awarded to Lizabeth Pina, Aimee Andrade, Adrienne Pennington Rodgers, Teva Sims, Ariel Mclemee, Kathryn Musser, Katie Weishaar, Jeffrey Moore, Jordan Powell, Paola Aguilar, Jaqueline Vega, Sammethra Brewster, Matthew Forman, and Alexas Vargas.

Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - This certification prepares students for a career in healthcare in a pharmacy setting. Students were trained in prescription requests, medication amounts and proper packaging and labeling of medications. This certification required learning more than 200 medical terms. Certifications were awarded to Ariel Mclemee, Kathryn Musser, Katie Weishaar, Jeffrey Moore, Jordan Powell, Tiffany Chanthaseng, Sammethra Brewster, Matthew Forman, and Alexas Vargas.

Certified EKG Technician (CET) – This is another healthcare related certification. Students were trained and certified to perform critical tasks of administering EKGs to patients. Certifications were awarded to Mia Albertorio, Mireya Armendariz, Lori Bookman, Evangelina Bulkley, Cassidy Calender, Chance Knapp, Stanisha Magee, Rebekah Moffit, Angel Reyes, Karina Salazar, Samantha Sanchez, Karla Sanchez, and Kaylin West.

OSHA - This certification focuses on safety in the workplace. Students were trained and certified through a 10-hour course, which focuses on decreasing the number of young worker injuries and fatalities in the United States. Certifications were awarded to Sebastian Hernandez, Donavan Kines, Phibun McDonald Khamwiset, Travis Need, Michael Skembo, Gilberto Aguilar, Jose Amaya, Carson Baker, Mark Ballew, Bardo Carrillo, Jesse Flowers, Adrian Godoy, Jorge Gonzalez, Gavin Gray, Courtney Griffin, Noah Guillen, Gustavo Hernandez, Matthew Hunt, Chriss Landaverde, Dylan Lopez, Gerardo Macias, Adriana Mejia, Dalton Merritt, Jacob Merritt, Alejandro Montenegro, Johathan Mounts, Micah Navarrete, George Padilla, Gerardo Perez, Brian Phongsuwan, Temoc Reyes, Markell Ringo, Matthew Robertson, Markel Savala, Hunter Schnorrbush, Kaleb Smith, Kwanzaa Tamburiayi, Steven Thomas, Kimberly Walker and Jody Whitney.
