Young will oversee the direction of the elementary and secondary band, theatre, choir, art, color guard, and winter guard programs.
Terrell ISD Superintendent Micheal French has admired Young’s work for years and expressed his excitement to welcoming Young onto the Tiger team. “Mr. Young’s experience and success speaks for itself. We are extremely proud and excited that he has joined the Tiger family, and look forward to the positive impact he will have on the success of our students and fine arts programs.”
After a successful 32-year career as a Band Director, Young notes that he is not interested in retirement anytime soon, but rather has worked towards and looked forward to an administrative position like this for years.
“I always knew I wanted to end up in an administrative role,” Young said. “I am excited for the opportunity to fill the role as Director of Bands and Fine Arts, and to grow our programs to new heights of success.”
The Fighting Tiger Band and the fine arts programs at Terrell ISD continue to be trademark organizations in the District and Terrell community. In the early weeks of summer vacation, students could already be found back in the band hall practicing for performances and competitions for next year.
“I am continually impressed by the culture band and fine arts have created for students,” Young shared. “What makes fine arts programs so unique is it combines kids from a variety of groups and backgrounds into one big family. It is quite special.”
Congratulations Mr. Young and welcome to the Tiger family!
