“Terrell Independent School District is not only helping students learn valuable skills but ensuring that students walk across the stage with careers, financial stability, and futures,” said Thomas. “This JET grant directly impacts students’ ability to pursue CTE as well as benefits the entire Greater Dallas Region.”
Prior to the check presentation, guests had the opportunity to get an up-close and personal look at several of the CTE programs offered at Terrell High School including robotics, welding, manufacturing, and automotive. Students hosted the showcase while demonstrating and highlighting the specifics and advantages of each program.
“I am incredibly proud of our students for taking ownership over this event and displaying such outstanding professionalism and expertise in their fields of study. said Rhonda Knight, TISD Director of College and Career Readiness. “These funds will allow us to continue developing our CTE programs and providing students with exceptional opportunities that will successfully equip them for their college and career pathways.”
At the conclusion of the event, 13 students were honored in Terrell High School’s first ever Texas Career Signing Day Ceremony. Following graduation, students will begin programs in nursing, medical radiologic technology, dental assisting and CNC manufacturing (Computerized Numerical Control) at a variety of junior colleges, technical schools, and other organizations.
“We are excited to spotlight some of our hard-working students at our first CTE career signing day,” said Knight. “It is a privilege to host events that recognize the achievements of our students and we look forward to continuing this tradition each year."
